About Us

A Practice Built Around How Vision Really Works.

Vision & Learning Center specializes in developmental optometry — helping children and adults build the visual skills that learning, comfort, and performance depend on.

Our Approach

Vision Is More Than 20/20

Most eye care stops at clarity and eye health. We start there — and then ask the questions a routine exam usually doesn't: Do the eyes work together? Do they track and focus efficiently? Does the brain process what they see fast enough to keep up? When the answer is no, the effects ripple into reading, learning, attention, balance, and confidence.

Our mission is to raise awareness of how closely the eyes, brain, and body are connected — and to build the visual skills that connection depends on, so our patients can do the everyday things that matter to them with less effort. If any of that sounds familiar, the symptom checklist is a good place to start, and the problems we treat shows what we look for.

Who We Are

Developmental Optometrist

Dr. Christina Murray is a developmental optometrist, board certified in vision development as a Fellow of Optometric Vision Development and Rehabilitation (FOVDR), and a proud graduate of both The Ohio State University and Nova Southeastern University. She wanted to be an eye doctor from the time she was a child, but her passion for this particular specialty arrived later — when she discovered deficits in her own visual system as an adult. Her post-graduate years have been spent studying primitive reflexes, syntonic (light) therapy, and how the brain processes visual information.

She opened the practice — originally Center for Better Learning — in 2018 and has since expanded to four offices, in Coconut Creek, Boynton Beach, West Palm Beach, and Boca Raton. She works very closely with occupational therapists, physical therapists, speech therapists, cranial-sacral therapists, and tutors so that each patient's care is comprehensive rather than siloed. Her dream is to eventually open an office where she can work side by side with those professionals in a genuinely collaborative way.

Dr. Murray is on a mission to bring awareness to how vision problems affect a child's ability to read and learn. She is actively working with parents, legislators, and the school board to have visual processing disorders recognized as a disability — a change that would mean better coverage under medical insurance plans, and the classroom accommodations these children need.

Dr. Murray lives in Boca Raton with her husband, Paul, their two daughters, Amelia and Emma, and two golden retrievers, Sadie and Bentley. When she is not seeing patients she enjoys reading, baking, and spending time with her family — and as an avid runner, biker, and swimmer, she hopes her kids will leave her enough time to train for triathlons.

Our Training

How Our Vision Therapists Are Trained

Vision therapists — often called optometric vision therapists — undergo specialized training to help patients improve their visual abilities. That training usually starts with a strong foundation in psychology, early childhood education, exercise science, or a related field.

From there we draw on professional organizations for coursework and certification: the College of Optometrists in Vision Development (COVD), the Optometric Extension Program (OEP), Emergent Vision Therapy, and others. Alongside our own in-office training program, these programs teach therapists how to address the full range of visual issues, from basic refractive errors to complex visual processing disorders — including the techniques behind binocular vision care, visual-perceptual therapy, and visual-motor integration.

Continuing education is crucial. Our therapists attend workshops, seminars, and conferences to stay current with the latest methodologies and research. That combination — foundational knowledge, specialized training, and ongoing education — is what lets each therapist deliver targeted, effective care in every vision therapy session.

What Guides Us

How We Practice

The Whole Visual System

We look beyond the eye chart to how the eyes, brain, and body work together — because that's where real-world vision problems live.

Thorough, Unhurried Evaluations

We take the time to test carefully and explain findings in plain language, so you understand exactly what's going on.

Individualized Care

No two visual systems are the same. Every therapy plan is built for the specific patient in front of us.

Measured Progress

We re-test along the way so improvement is objective and visible — not a matter of hope.

Care That Coordinates

We work alongside teachers, tutors, OTs, PTs, and physicians so support is consistent across a patient's life.

Families as Partners

Parents are part of the team. We keep you informed and equipped to support progress at home.
